'Tis The Season

Both girls have settled in for what Gwynne and I hope will be a long winter nap...snow is on the ground, breakfast has been enjoyed (pancakes and omlettes; a Sunday tradition of course), the paper needs reading, and chores are to be done.
The Christmas tree went up shortly after Thanksgiving. Both girls enjoy pulling the ornaments off the tree with no thought or skill at putting them back on. It has become a daily ritual...I put them all back on the tree at night, they take them off again the next day. Luckily we had the foresight to put all of the soft, child-safe toys on the bottom of the tree.
The lights, oh the lights! They are a homing beacon for the girls attention. Each morning I pull the girls from their cribs and head down into the darkness of the first floor (usually around 6 or 6:15 so it is still dark outside). After I set them down I go to turn on the tree lights. Alexandra has quickly adopted the routine and will usually rush right over, even before I can turn on the lights. Annellice with either join her sister right away, or she won't. Once those lights come on, however, the stampede of pounding hands and knees can be frightening for newcomers not used to the morning happenings.
We're not yet walking, though Alexandra is stepping ever closer. She will routinely take between one and four steps to chase the object of her desire. Annellice is adept at navigating the house and all it's obsticals with her walking toy, but has no interest in stepping on her own. Alexandra is adequately proficient navigating when she is not tired. Once her energy starts to fade, even the smallest bumps in the road balloon to catestrophic proportions.
