At 16 months the girls are now exploring how far their arms and legs can reach for things. Thats right... they can nor grab things from desktops and kitchen counters. Lots of papers and things are now being pushed back to negate being grabbed by innocent hands. The hardest task right now is to get them to stop them from attempting to mess with buttong and dials on the face of the stove. While they have not successfully turned anything on yet we are trying to teach them that it is not a thing there are allowed to touch... all about handy distractions right now.
Alexandra began successfully walking on 12/20. We I say successfully, I mean actually stringing together greater than 4 steps. She had a string of 20 steps that morning. She is becoming more confident with it by the day so much so she is even up to trying to carry things from one place to another.
Annellice started walking on 12/27. She is not nearly as motivated or as confident as Alexandra. It is very obvious when she stands that her hips have a bit more laxiety to them and there for her weeble-woobles are greater. She doesn't seem to be affected by that nor does she seem to care that Alexandra is outpacing her in that department.
We now have a walking circuit in the house. Last week the girls figured out there was just enough room between the kitchen table and the wall to push their walking toys through. If they maintain traction they can motor for several minutes before needing to rest. Our favorite thing to watch durign the process is the addition and loss of "their passengers". Alexandra likes to grab little toys or pieces of toys so that she can tour them around the house. Annellice like to chace her down and either take or just remove her Alexandra's toys for the fun of it. Somedays Annellice will be playing "dog" and carries around the socks that she has removed from her feet. Poor Titan just tries his best to stay out of their way - which can be awfully hard when they are purposefully trying to come and play with them.
Here is a picture of the girls "sharing" their space again. They like to see who can push the other off half the time... in this instance they wanted out attention to show off that they both could fit on top of a pillow!
